Artist's Statement
:

How it came to be I do not know but something in my being finds nature and its myriad forms and textures absolutely enthralling. The graceful growth of tree branches, the texture of rotting wood,  the unpredictable forms of flowing water, the astonishing variety of cloud shapes and the play of light on them all; in these I sense a peculiar and profound beauty. Never knowing exactly where this beauty will turn up but always expecting that it will, I find I am drawn to look. And when I look I see. And when I see I find that I want the whole world to see.
But ultimately, I believe that my photographs are really just a public dialogue between myself and my God. That dialogue has often been a source of great joy and is the core reason my photos exist. As to exactly what is conveyed in that dialogue I must beg your indulgence as I can only describe it as a sense of hope for a time when all of life's most difficult questions are answered.

Thank you for coming to view the work

A Short Biography:

Born in 1958 and raised in the Pacific Northwest of the United States of America. I started out in Oregon, staying just long enough to graduate from Portlands Franklin High School in 1976. Within a month I had moved to Seattle Washington, residing in the vicinity even now.
My interest in photography was roused in the mid 1980's when I discovered the joy of backpacking. Touring on foot through the incredible scenery of Washingtons Cascade and Olympic Mountain Ranges I wanted to have something to show of it, so in  September of 1987 I acquired my first manual camera.
It wasn't long before I developed a thirst for a deeper comprehension of the science and art of photography and in March of 1988 the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle became my source of formal instruction when I signed up for a three year certificate program in Fine Art Photography. The program was completed with a thesis show at the PCNW in June of 1999.

My time is now spent in the creation and marketing of my color and black and white landscape and nature prints. Fate has been kind and in the years I’ve been offering my work it has spread itself around the world. My hope is now to spend the rest of my life in this happy and challenging endeavor.

When not working on the photography I spend time in the recording studio that I keep. I have played piano/keyboards since the age of nine and very much enjoy making my own recordings and playing with others.
And lastly, a few influences: Ansel Adams, Christopher Burkett, Edwin Church, Theodore Dreiser, Claude Debussy, Ralph Hattersley, Jesus of Nazareth.
